Tavern 27 at The Mystic Meadows
Have you ever come across a gluten-free version of a scotch egg? You can find this and so much more at Tavern 27 in Laconia, NH where more than two-thirds of the menu is gluten-free!
Dishes are made to order and accomodating customers’ gluten, dairy and soy intolerances or vegan requests is not uncommon! This restaurant proves that offering creative and delicious food using the highest quailty ingredients that are often organic and sustainable is attainable. Their produce is often of the heirloom variety and is grown from their own ever expanding, organic farm! Supplemental vegetables are supplied by local vendors.
A hotspot for sampling tapas, (ten out of the twelve tapas selections are gluten-free as noted by the GF symbol on the standard menu and many are vegetarian), there are also many other menu choices for seekers of tasty, innovative gluten-free fare. The seasonal menu offers Salads, Soups, Bocadillos, which are served with gluten-free rice crackers in lieu of bread, and Pinchos. Pinchos are small bites of chicken, beef, pork or seafood served on skewers (note to those with seafood allergies~some items require cooking in the dedicated gf fryer).
If you desire a more complete meal, then The Tavern Steak might be the perfect choice. This 12 ounce sirloin is served with crimini mushrooms on a bed of the renowned Tavern French Fries. Tavern French Fries are made of a mix of hand cut sweet potatoes and Yukon Gold potatoes and , if your cardiologist isn’t in the vicinity, you can take them up a notch by ordering them with a Cheddar or White Truffle Cheddar sauce. Also on the menu are Chickpea Fries. This protein packed substitution is offered with a Chipotle Ketchup or Spicy Mayo.
You won’t see dessert on the menu, but it is offered and ranges from seasonal fresh fruit to their homemade, decadent gluten-free brownies.
A full bar is offered and includes some organic and sustainable wines. Some of the other choices worth noting are Bard’s beer, organic lemonade and almond milk ! Reservations suggested.
