Red Lentil Vegetarian & Vegan Restaurant-Gluten-Free Too!
The Red Lentil in Watertown, MA has a terrific menu that is devised of fresh, organic and local produce! Not only are dishes designated as gluten-free and/or vegan but they are also marked if they contain nuts. So many interesting soups, salads, appetizers and entrees are offered on this menu that it may be difficult to make a decision! The noteworthy Gobi Manchurian appetizer is a seasoned and breaded (with chickpea flour) cauliflower dish that is fried and served alongside a sweet and spicy tomato sauce. Another appetizer that I am inspired to try is the Beet-Potato Latkes. These are not your traditional latkes whatsoever! They are made of sweet potatoes, beets and Granny Smith apples and served over greens with an apricot marmalade and cilantro vinaigrette. The Millet Loaf (contains soy) with Local Farm Seasonal Vegetables is another twist on tradition.
This inventive menu is carried over to Brunch as well where, in addition, many egg dishes are featured. Take-out is offered daily for lunch and dinner, and delivery is available during lunch hours.
