About Us
Dining away from home can be a challenge for those managing food allergies and intolerances or special dietary needs. As a registered dietitian, as well as a mother of children with food allergies, I am always on the lookout for a safe place to eat. This site came about due to the necessity of finding restaurants receptive to serving customers with food allergies and special dietary concerns. Our goal is to increase the awareness within the restaurant community so that we may once again experience the freedom to dine away from home.

Jake’s Dixie Roadhouse Cafe-CLOSED

If you’re looking for delicious, regional bbq from Kansas City, North Carolina, Texas or Memphis that must be gluten-free, stop by Jake’s Dixie Roadhouse Cafe   in Waltham.  They have a celiac friendly menu!  This menu features soup, appetizers, salads, entrees, sides and dessert.  Included is a vegetarian plate which offers grilled vegetables, plain mashed potatoes (contains dairy), sweet mashed potatoes and house greens.  Many of the gluten-free entrees and sides are also dairy, egg, nut and fish-free (some are soy free too) such as the baked beans, cole slaw, grilled corn on the cob and the dirty rice.  As previously mentioned, gluten-free dessert is available too.  This varies so call ahead to find out the daily special and its potential allergens.  Lizzy’s ice cream is available everday.  If you enjoy entertainment while you dine, be sure to go when a band is scheduled to play.
