Avila Restaurant
In a location convenient to Boston’s theater district, Avila Modern Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar features the cuisines of Italy, Spain, Greece, France and Portugal. This restaurant appeals to many, even those needing to dine gluten-free. Their gluten-free menu infuses these regions well, especially with the selection of “small plates” which are available in 3 sizes. For dessert, there is always the readily available gluten and dairy-free sorbets with assorted berries or fruit, but as relayed to me by Pastry Chef Tom Ponticelli, with two or three days advance notice they will prepare a poached or baked fruit dessert or even a chocolate flourless torte or cake (will accomodate nut-free too).
Be sure to check out the special events page. One event, the Spanish Sunday Suppers is held every Sunday evening and includes three courses for $28 and usually includes gluten-free choices, however, diners are still permitted to order off of the a’ la carte menu too. Mention your dietary needs at the time of reservation so you can make the most of your visit.
