Opened in early 2012, the Cafe on Broadway in North Haven, CT is creating a lot of buzz within the gluten-free community.  That’s due to the fact that about 99% of the menu is naturally gluten-free!  They’re open daily  for breakfast and lunch from 6 am-2 pm. Gluten-intolerant customers will find comfort in knowing that one of the owners lives gluten-free since being diagnosed with celiac disease and has trained the staff about the importance of safe food prep and handling.  As always, just let your server know your needs before ordering.

Everything on the menu can be prepared gluten-free with the exception of the waffles and macaroni salad. Besides the regular menu items (gluten-free bread is available for all sandwiches for a small additional cost), they offer Daily Specials  which include soups and entrees.  A sampling of these include the Chicken Corn Chowder, Cream of Broccoli, RI Clam Chowder, and the Roasted Vegetable Eggplant soup. Entree specials have included Chicken and Fish Tacos, Chicken Quesadilla, Broccoli Rabe & Sausage Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Hummus Sandwich, Broccoli Cheddar Quiche,  Lobster Mac & Cheese and Fried Calamari. .  On the sweet side, there are gluten-free desserts like the Banana Cream Pie, Banana Nut or Blueberry Crumb Muffins and cupcakes in flavors of vanilla and chocolate raspberry. Note that this is just a partial list.  The ever-changing specials are never dull nor repetitiive!
