Also available from Rosie’s Bakery are the Chocolate Dipped Almond Macaroons and the Chocolate Mousse Cake which they describe as a “not too sweet chocolate mousse covered with a thick layer of whipped cream atop a base of dark flourless chocolate cake”.

After operating for 35 years in the Boston area, we are so pleased that they’ve ventured into offering gf items due to customer requests. We’re hoping they’ll expand these goodies to all of the other Rosie locations too!

**TEA LITE CAFE**
7000 E. Mayo Blvd, #1084
Phoenix, AZ 85054
480-538-1600

Tea Lite Cafe is a family owned Vietnamese restaurant that really cares about getting it “right.” Owners Chris and Reyness Price know their stuff when it comes to gluten-free! They’ve been through the extensive Gluten Free-Absolutely! gf menu program and are totally on-board, as is their staff, with all aspects of presenting a safe gf menu. Though small, most of their menu items are gluten-free and all are delicious, fresh, lite, and prepared with gf care. Reyness and Chris are awesome people who take an active part in the operations of the restaurant and can usually be found in the kitchen or at the front counter.

Menu items are not only pretty as a picture (You can’t eat a picture!), but also delicious and healthy with fresh veggies and safely marinated meats. The from-scratch Tea Lite Pho soup (a meal in itself) and yummy spring rolls are only a couple of the wonderful items you can enjoy with confidence.Their beverage list includes an excellent selection of organic teas, an area in which Reyness is an expert. You can choose to dine inside or out on the patio, or… order take-out and enjoy Tea Lite’s gf menu items at home.

Tea Lite Cafe is located steps away from the Harkin’s Cine Capri Theatre at Mayo and Rte 101 (Scottsdale area). Its small, casual atmosphere makes it a good choice for dinner or lunch while shopping, before a movie, or for a relaxing family dinner out. Keep an eye on their website where, soon, you’ll see the posting of their gluten-free menu.

It’s time to enjoy some cake with your coffee! Have you tried the Valencia Orange Cake that is now carried at Starbucks across the nation? Not only is it gluten-free, it is also free of soy and dairy (contains eggs and almonds). The cakes are prepared in a bakery with a special gluten-free zone which has dedicated equipment, pans and washing stations. Each cake is individually wrapped to prevent gluten contamination. Starbucks tests the product daily to ensure that it is gluten-free (less than 20 ppm). Thanks Starbucks!

At Five Guys you won’t find salads or chicken here, just burgers and fries. All of their menu items are gluten-free with the exception of the hamburger buns. So you will have to order the burger bunless, but it is good to know that they cook the meat on dedicated grills to decrease the risk of cross-contamination. The buns are toasted on their own grill. The fries are made on location and have no dairy, wheat or soy containing additives that we sometimes find in other fries. The fries are cooked in trans-fat free, refined peanut oil and, sorry to those with peanut allergies, they also serve complimentary peanuts in the shell from bulk containers while the customers wait for their meal. Hotdogs are also on the menu. These are supplied by Hebrew National and are dairy-free in addition to being gluten-free (contain soy). But, once again, no hotdog bun for us! I hope we can convince these five guys to start offering allergen friendly buns.
