Santa’s Village Here We Come!
North Conway has come a long way in the past few years as a great vacation place for people managing food allergies and intolerances. It’s nice to have a place to take the children and know that there are some relatively safe places to eat. In a previous post (March 2009), I wrote about Rafferty’s Restaurant & Pub and their extensive gluten-free menu. Since that post, they have started selling pre-packaged gluten-free pastas, lasagnas (meat, cheese or vegetable), rolls and pies (applecrumb or pumpkin) to go. Another great restaurant in the area is Bellini’s Ristorante Italiano. Read the rest of this entry »

La Vita Mia
Oh! What a delicious gluten-free meal we had at La Vita Mia in Saugus, Ma. To start, we had the Antipasti Freddo, which can easily become a satisfying dairy-free dish as well by omitting the cheese. The Chicken Saltimboca was specially prepared for us by forgoing the dredging in flour before being sauteed, and the Basil Risotto was naturally gluten-free. Though gluten-free pasta is not offered, one can substitute with roasted potatoes or risotto (there is an additional fee for risotto). Some of the soups and many of the entrees are naturally gluten and dairy-free. The staff was very receptive to our needs and as noted on the menu, “Chef DeSimone will be happy to accomodate any special request when possible.” He certaintly did for us!
