Recently, we had the opportunity to tour the plant of the soon to be opened ALLCANEAT FOODS, LTD.  Baker and owner George  has been creating tempting dishes at Fresh Start for years and has now formulated delicious recipes to allow people living with diet restrictions to feel like regular folk.  This plant is a dedicated gluten, soy, nut and sesame-free facility!  In addition, they will offer dairy-free and sugar-free products too!  Read the rest of this entry »

The Blue Mermaid Island Grill has received favorable feedback from such prestigious groups as the National Restaurant Association, New Hampshire Magazine and shows such as The Phantom Gourmet and Rachel Ray’s Tasty Travels. Georgie’s Diner in New Haven has gluten-free and vegan choices on the menu and recently added more items for their gluten-free customers.  Already serving gluten-free pasta dishes such as the Mediteranean Pasta and the Bolognese pasta dish, they have recently added gluten-free Cavatelli and Spinach Ravioli (not yet listed on menu). Located in Portland,  The Eggs Up Grill  serves breakfast and lunch and  they have a gluten-free menu!  Owner Kim lives gluten-free as do many of her family  members.  She’s devised a full breakfast menu which includes a tempting  array of pancakes (contain eggs and dairy) and French toast (bread contains dairy, corn, eggs and yeast). In business since 1938, Polly’s Pancake Parlor continues to operate as a family run business.  In more recent years they have decided to offer gluten-free pancakes and waffles!  All batters are made from scratch which enables the modification.  Mixes are never used.  These batters are rice flour based and contain dairy (also contain corn, eggs) however, they are willing to make them dairy-free, if needed. While not exclusively gluten-free, the Hudson Street Delicatessen  is a place that will make you a gluten-free sandwich.  This relatively new deli is located in the West End of Providence.  They offer gluten-free bread, cookies and brownies.  Choose a breakfast sandwich or one of twelve signature sandwiches for lunch.  The gluten-free bread and baked goods are made by the local bakery  FreeFlour Bakehouse.  Read the rest of this entry »
